This is my go-to shampoo recipe, when my hair begins possessing a will of it's own and my only Hail Mary is to prop it into a ponytail. I enjoy varying shampoos throughout the year but when the sultry summer arrives an ordinary shampoo can't care for and protect my rebellious hair. The sun, beach and sea are fantastic, but clearly my hair doesn't seam to justly appreciate them as much as I do.

If you've been reading my posts, you'll know I'm always on the lookout for practical, simple solutions that get results. I don't know of anything simpler to prepare than this Coconut Moisturising Shampoo, basically because it has a neutral shampoo base and is enriched with coconut milk, carrier and essential oils.

60 ml.- Coconut Milk (canned, unsweetened) 80 ml.- Organic Gentle/ Neutral Shampoo or Aloe Vera Gel ½ tsp. Hemp or Jojoba Oil ½ tsp. Avacado Oil 15 drops Rosemary Essential Oil (optional) 15 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (optional)

No need, it's so simple!

- Add all ingredients in a bowl and stir 🥣

- Place the mixture in an empty bottle 🧴

How to use

Use as any other conventional shampoo. Place 1 to 3 teaspoons on the scalp and massage gently until it lathers. Let it sit for a few seconds and then rinse well. You can then finish off with an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse ← (check out this post if you're not acquainted with this technique).

Properly keeping your Shampoo In Good Conditions.

This moisturising shampoo is made with natural products and as such, typically has a relatively limited shelf life (5 to 7 days). I've carefully managed a necessary work around and therefore extended it's best-before date. Undoubtedly, these are two that I find most convenient. Choose whichever you find more practical.

1 - Divide the shampoo into two empty bottles (I reuse all my empty bottles; they're always so handy.). The larger one promptly goes to the fridge and the smaller bottle to the shower with only the sufficient quantity that I'll dearly need for a week. While it's in the fridge, it will keep in optimal conditions for a month.

2 -After preparing this delightful mixture, I place a quarter of the amount into an empty bottle (enough for immediate use for the entire week). The remaining quantity promptly goes into one or two ice trays and pop 'em in the freezer. Whenever more shampoo is needed, I thaw out two or three cubes of the frozen shampoo and place it into the emptied bottle.

To Keep in Mind:

Although the original recipe is not my own, it's been invariably a fantastic ally when my hair dearly needs an extra treat. However, you will need to keep in mind that:

1 - If your rebellious hair is oily, merely reduce or remove the vegetable oils from this recipe.

2 - Not all hair types are created equal and thus, do not respond the same way.

3 - There is always a frustrating period of minor adaptation when changing from conventional to Natural and Organic shampoos (without synthetic chemicals), which can be between 4 and 6 weeks.

4 - If you prefer to use Aloe Vera Gel, the result will be assuredly be a non-foaming creamy shampoo, which will clean equally well and is positively super repairing.
